About the role

QA Automation Engineer II

Ocient is seeking a hands-on, code-focused QA Automation Engineer II to build and maintain automated test tooling and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and tooling using Ocient’s infrastructure
Build automated validation for:
- Backend services
- APIs
- Distributed workflows
- Data pipelines
Improve the reliability, readability, and maintainability of automated test suites
Identify and reduce flaky or low-signal tests with component owners
Collaborate with software engineers and QA Automation Engineers/QA Leads to improve testability and coverage
Contribute to performance and scalability testing using automated approaches
Follow automation targets and testing policies to ensure consistent quality signals

Qualifications (Ideal)

3+ years in software quality engineering with a strong focus on automation
Strong experience building/maintaining automated test infrastructure in a shared test framework (e.g., pytest or similar)
Proficiency writing maintainable, reviewable code in Python and Java
Comfortable working in Linux environments (CLI workflows for building/running/debugging tests)
Experience testing backend systems, APIs, or distributed services
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with software and QA partners

Compensation

$125,000 - $165,000 USD/year (based on experience and interview evaluations)

Remote (US-based only); no visa sponsorship/transfer.
