About the role
Role Overview
QA Automation Engineer (100% Remote, U.S.)
You will design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for enterprise web, API, and distributed systems, partnering with development teams to expand test coverage and improve software delivery quality.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium
- Create robust, maintainable automated test scripts covering critical business flows and edge cases
- Implement API automation using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent tools
- Maintain regression, smoke, sanity, and functional test suites
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) so tests run reliably on every change
- Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing with focus on compatibility and performance
- Validate data integrity end-to-end using SQL queries
- Collaborate with developers to improve testability and identify defects early ("shift quality left")
- Support performance testing efforts using JMeter, Gatling, or k6
- Maintain test documentation, traceability, and defect tracking records
- Conduct root-cause analysis on production issues and drive lasting quality improvements
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, quality retrospectives)
- Continuously improve QA processes, frameworks, and engineering practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of QA automation experience (posting also notes 6+ years in the summary)
- Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
- Hands-on experience automating REST APIs
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies and the software development lifecycle
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD
- Solid SQL skills for data validation
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong debugging, analytical, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance testing tools: JMeter, Gatling, k6
- Knowledge of containerized test environments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud-based testing environments
