About the role

Role Overview

QA Automation Engineer (100% Remote, U.S.) to design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for enterprise web, API, and distributed systems. Partner with development teams to expand test coverage, integrate automation into CI/CD, and enable confident, continuous software delivery in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium
  • Build robust, maintainable automated test scripts for critical business flows and edge cases
  • Implement API automation using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent
  • Create and maintain regression, smoke, sanity, and functional test suites
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) so tests run reliably on every change
  • Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing focused on compatibility and performance
  • Validate data integrity end-to-end using SQL queries
  • Collaborate with developers to improve testability, detect defects early, and “shift quality left”
  • Support performance testing initiatives with JMeter, Gatling, or k6
  • Maintain detailed test documentation, traceability, and defect tracking
  • Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and drive lasting quality improvements
  • Align automation strategy with DevOps and release management processes
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and quality-focused retrospectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of QA automation experience
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, and/or Playwright
  • Hands-on API automation experience
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and the SDLC
  • Experience integrating automation into CI/CD
  • Strong SQL skills for data validation
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6)
  • Knowledge of containerized test environments using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with cloud-based testing environments
