About the role

Role Overview

QA Automation Engineer (100% Remote, U.S.) to design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for enterprise web, API, and distributed systems. Partner with development teams to expand test coverage, integrate automation into CI/CD, and enable confident, continuous software delivery in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium
Build robust, maintainable automated test scripts for critical business flows and edge cases
Implement API automation using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent
Create and maintain regression, smoke, sanity, and functional test suites
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) so tests run reliably on every change
Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing focused on compatibility and performance
Validate data integrity end-to-end using SQL queries
Collaborate with developers to improve testability, detect defects early, and “shift quality left”
Support performance testing initiatives with JMeter, Gatling, or k6
Maintain detailed test documentation, traceability, and defect tracking
Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and drive lasting quality improvements
Align automation strategy with DevOps and release management processes
Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and quality-focused retrospectives

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
4+ years of QA automation experience
Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, and/or Playwright
Hands-on API automation experience
Strong understanding of testing methodologies and the SDLC
Experience integrating automation into CI/CD
Strong SQL skills for data validation
Experience with Agile/Scrum
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6)
Knowledge of containerized test environments using Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with cloud-based testing environments
