About the role
Role Overview
QA Automation Engineer (100% Remote, U.S.) to design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for enterprise web, API, and distributed systems. Partner with development teams to expand test coverage, integrate automation into CI/CD, and enable confident, continuous software delivery in Agile environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium
- Build robust, maintainable automated test scripts for critical business flows and edge cases
- Implement API automation using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent
- Create and maintain regression, smoke, sanity, and functional test suites
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) so tests run reliably on every change
- Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing focused on compatibility and performance
- Validate data integrity end-to-end using SQL queries
- Collaborate with developers to improve testability, detect defects early, and “shift quality left”
- Support performance testing initiatives with JMeter, Gatling, or k6
- Maintain detailed test documentation, traceability, and defect tracking
- Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and drive lasting quality improvements
- Align automation strategy with DevOps and release management processes
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and quality-focused retrospectives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of QA automation experience
- Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, and/or Playwright
- Hands-on API automation experience
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies and the SDLC
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD
- Strong SQL skills for data validation
- Experience with Agile/Scrum
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6)
- Knowledge of containerized test environments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud-based testing environments
