QA Automation Engineer

Employment: Full-time, direct W2 (no C2C/1099/third-party) Location: 100% remote (Continental United States) Experience: 4+ years Compensation: $100K–$150K base salary + benefits

Role Overview

Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for enterprise web, API, and distributed systems. Partner with development teams to expand test coverage, embed automation into CI/CD, and enable faster, more confident software releases in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Appium
• Create robust, maintainable automated test scripts covering critical business flows and edge cases
• Implement API automation using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent
• Create and maintain regression, smoke, sanity, and functional test suites
• Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing with focus on compatibility and performance
• Validate data integrity end-to-end using SQL queries
• Collaborate with developers to shift quality left, improve testability, and identify defects early
• Support performance testing using JMeter, Gatling, or k6
• Maintain test documentation, traceability, and defect tracking with disciplined engineering practices

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on QA automation experience
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks
• Strong testing strategy knowledge, including:
  • risk-based testing
  • exploratory testing
  • continuous testing in Agile
• Ability to write reliable automated tests for web/API/distributed systems

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with multiple automation frameworks and CI/CD toolchains
• Performance testing experience (JMeter/Gatling/k6)
