Python Engineer – AI Training

Role Overview

You will work as an independent contractor on AI training projects with leading AI labs. Your work focuses on creating and annotating training datasets that improve AI model reasoning and problem-solving on realistic coding tasks.

Project / What You’ll Do

• Annotate frontier-model trajectories on SWE-bench-style tasks derived from real open-source repositories.
• Reconstruct and annotate reasoning portions of model trajectories by using the full task context (codebase, issue descriptions, test cases) and your own problem-solving process.
• Infer and infill underlying reasoning at each step, particularly where closed-source models do not provide internal reasoning traces.

Key Responsibilities

• Review model-generated code trajectories on realistic software engineering tasks
• Reconstruct chain-of-thought reasoning explaining solution steps
• Annotate decision points, debugging logic, and problem-solving strategies
• Use full task context (codebase, issues, tests) to produce plausible reasoning
• Ensure annotations are technically accurate and reflect realistic developer thought processes

Requirements (Ideal Qualifications)

• 2+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in real codebases
• Bachelor’s minimum in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript (or other common open-source languages)
• Familiarity with Git, PR workflows, and issue tracking
• Ability to clearly and structuredly articulate technical reasoning in writing

Contract Details

• Fully remote
• Independent contractor engagement
• Duration: 1–2 months (can be extended, shortened, or ended early)
• Time commitment: Part-time (15–25 hours/week) with flexibility up to 40 hours/week
• Payment: weekly via Stripe or Wise
• Start date: Immediate
