Role: Python Engineer – AI Training

You’ll work as an independent contractor on a fully remote AI training project with leading AI labs.

About the Project

• Annotate “frontier-model trajectories” on SWE-bench–style tasks derived from real open-source repositories.
• For closed-source models that don’t expose internal reasoning traces, you’ll reconstruct and annotate the reasoning portions of model trajectories.
• Use your own problem-solving approach plus the full task context (codebase, issue descriptions, and test cases) to infer and infill reasoning at each step.

Responsibilities

• Review model-generated code trajectories on realistic software engineering tasks.
• Reconstruct and write clear, structured explanations for each step of the solution process.
• Annotate:
  • decision points
  • debugging logic
  • problem-solving strategies
• Use full task context to infer plausible reasoning and ensure technical accuracy.

Ideal Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience, with hands-on debugging and problem-solving in real codebases.
• Bachelor’s minimum in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Strong proficiency in Python (and/or other common open-source languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Familiarity with version control workflows: Git, PRs, and issue tracking.
• Comfortable articulating technical reasoning in clear, structured writing.

Contract & Payment

• Independent contractor; weekly payments via Stripe or Wise.
• Engagement can be extended, shortened, or ended early based on needs and performance.

Schedule & Timeline

• Start date: Immediate
• Duration: 1–2 months
• Commitment: part-time (15–25 hrs/week) with flexibility up to 40 hrs/week
