Role Overview
Python Developer (W2)
Remote role focused on building and improving an infrastructure automation platform using Python. You’ll collaborate with product, SRE, and operations teams to deliver scalable, reliable, well-tested automation in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve infrastructure automation using Python
- Design and implement clean, maintainable object-oriented Python for services and automation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, SRE, and operations in an Agile environment
- Use Git/Bitbucket for branching strategies and pull-request workflows
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and deployment/runbook documentation
- Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize performance for applications and automation
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog refinement)
Requirements
- 5+ years professional Python development with strong OOP
- Proven Git workflows and Bitbucket (PRs, branching strategies)
- API Design experience
- Microservice and cloud architecture principles
- MongoDB query development
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Must be able to use AI-assisted development tools (code completion, LLM-assisted coding, AI-driven test generation, AI-assisted code review)
- Ansible and configuration management for provisioning/automation
- Strong debugging and testing mindset (unit/integration) and CI/CD experience
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Desired / Nice to Have
- Infrastructure automation experience (IaC, automation frameworks, pipeline automation)
- Storage technology familiarity (SAN/NAS, object storage, distributed storage)
- Experience writing/maintaining tools in Golang
- Kafka experience (preferred)
- Docker/Kubernetes experience (preferred)
- Cloud platform experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) and observability tooling
- Comfort conducting and participating in code reviews
- Familiarity with Richardson Maturity Model
- Knowledge of OpenAPI spec
- Experience migrating legacy Ansible-based microservice fulfillment services to an RMM level 2 OpenAI spec microservice (AI-assisted workflow)
- Improve CI/CD reliability and increase automated test coverage
