About the role
Python Developer (W2)
Location: Remote (United States) Duration: 40 months (W2 only)
Role Overview
Build and maintain an infrastructure automation platform using Python, working in an Agile environment with product, SRE, and operations teams. You will design maintainable services and automation, improve CI/CD and testing, and optimize performance.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve infrastructure automation platform components in Python
- Design and implement clean, maintainable OOP Python for services and automation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, SRE, and operations in an Agile team
- Use Git, Jira, and Bitbucket for source control, branching, and pull-request workflows
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and deployment/runbook documentation
- Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize performance of applications and automation
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices
- Use AI-assisted development tools (code completion, LLM-assisted coding, AI test generation, AI-assisted code review) to accelerate delivery and improve quality
Required Qualifications
- Strong Python experience with solid object-oriented programming
- Proven Git workflows and Bitbucket usage (PRs, branching strategies)
- API Design experience
- Microservice and cloud architecture principles
- MongoDB query development experience
- Experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with Agile ceremonies
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools effectively
- Ansible and configuration management for provisioning/automation
- Strong debugging and testing mindset (unit/integration) and CI/CD mindset
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Desired / Nice to Have
- Infrastructure automation experience (IaC, automation frameworks, pipeline automation)
- Storage technology familiarity (SAN/NAS, object storage, distributed storage)
- Experience writing/maintaining tools in Golang
- Kafka experience (producers/consumers, stream processing)
- Container experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and observability tooling
- Experience conducting and participating in code reviews
- Familiarity with Richardson Maturity Model
- Knowledge of OpenAPI specs
- Migrate top legacy Ansible-based microservice fulfillment services to an RMM level 2 microservice using an AI-assisted workflow
- Improve CI/CD reliability and increase automated test coverage
