Senior Back-End Python Engineer (Fully Remote)

Responsibilities

Own backend features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
Build production APIs using a modern web framework (e.g., FastAPI or similar).
Design and implement clear request/response contracts with solid input validation.
Work on relational database design including schema design, indexing, and query performance.
Use an ORM (e.g., SQLAlchemy) and write non-trivial SQL.
Evolve production schemas safely using versioned migrations.
Build data pipelines: ingest → validate → transform → persist → export.
Operate services in the cloud and support delivery processes including Docker and CI/CD.

5+ years building and operating production backend systems.
Strong Python proficiency.
Experience with asynchronous programming and understanding async/sync trade-offs.
Hands-on with SQL and an ORM such as SQLAlchemy.
Comfortable working with tabular data (e.g., Excel, Parquet, CSV).
Cloud deployment and operations experience; Azure strongly preferred.
Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.

Can explain engineering trade-offs to both engineers and non-engineers.
Works independently with frequent communication; proactively asks questions and keeps stakeholders informed.
Comfortable with ambiguity and drives issues to resolution.
