Python Developer - Remote

Role overview

Join a customer team as a Python Backend Developer (AI Expert) in a remote part-time contract role. You will design and continuously improve robust backend APIs while collaborating with a team working on AI-driven research and developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable backend APIs.
• Implement data validation, error handling, and API security best practices.
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and schema changes.
• Test AI-powered models using Cursor, and report findings via incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
• Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts to evaluate how AI models affect real coding workflows.
• Collaborate with the research team in a dedicated Slack channel to discuss findings and propose improvements.
• Submit post-burst surveys with insights on model performance and developer experience.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience with strong Python expertise.
• Proficiency building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of backend data validation, error handling, and API security.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially clear incident/bug reporting.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
