Python Developer - Remote

Role overview

You’ll be a Python Developer (Contract, Remote) helping train next-generation AI systems. Your domain knowledge and backend engineering skills will support how models learn, reason, and perform using real-world inputs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs
• Implement data validation, error handling, and API security best practices
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and schema changes
• Test AI-powered models in Cursor, and report issues with actionable feedback (incident reports, bug traces, screenshots)
• Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts to evaluate AI impact on real coding workflows
• Collaborate with a research team via Slack to discuss findings and propose improvements
• Submit post-burst surveys with insights on model performance and developer experience

Requirements

• 3+ years professional experience as a backend developer, strong Python expertise
• Proficiency building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Advanced understanding of backend validation, error handling, and API security
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design
• Strong written and verbal communication, especially clear incident/bug reporting
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, confidential, collaborative remote environment

• Visible open-source contributions (e.g., GitHub activity)
• Experience designing/evaluating experimental tooling and developer workflows
• Enthusiasm for AI advancements in software development
