Python Developer - Remote

Role overview

You’ll be a Python Developer (Contract, Remote) helping train and evaluate next-generation AI systems using real-world developer inputs. No prior AI experience is required—your backend and domain expertise is what matters.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs
• Implement strong data validation, error handling, and API security practices
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and schema changes
• Test new AI-powered models in Cursor and report findings through incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots
• Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts to assess how AI impacts coding workflows
• Collaborate with a research team via a dedicated Slack channel
• Submit post-burst surveys with insights on model performance and developer experience

Requirements

• 3+ years backend development experience with strong Python expertise
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Advanced understanding of backend validation, error handling, and API security
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design
• Extensive hands-on use of AI tools for coding; Cursor is highly desirable
• Strong written and verbal communication, especially for clear incident/bug reporting
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, confidential, collaborative remote environment

Preferred qualifications

• Visible open-source contributions (e.g., GitHub stars/contributions)
• Experience designing/evaluating experimental tooling and developer workflows
• Enthusiasm for AI advancements in software development
