Role Overview

Join the FinCrimes Fraud Engineering team to build and enhance backend systems for real-time fraud detection and prevention. You’ll develop scalable services, data pipelines, and APIs processing transactional and behavioral data to support fraud operations across a digital banking platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Python
• Build and optimize data services for large volumes of transactional/fraud data
• Develop RESTful APIs and backend integrations for fraud detection, investigation, and operational workflows
• Write efficient SQL and optimize database performance in PostgreSQL environments
• Design and maintain data models, stored procedures, and database integrations
• Use Redis for caching and performance improvements (including session management)
• Collaborate with fraud analysts to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Build resilient, observable, fault-tolerant services with strong monitoring and logging
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and quality initiatives
• Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized, cloud-native deployments
• Help evaluate and integrate AI-assisted capabilities where they deliver measurable value
• Design and build internal platforms/frameworks for creating, testing, optimizing, and hosting AI agents (Fraud Data Plane)
• Implement multi-step, agentic pipelines with orchestration, conditional routing, and human-in-the-loop review
• Provide robust agent state management for resumable, observable, fault-tolerant async workflows
• Create governed, auditable interfaces between agents and sensitive internal data sources with access controls and traceability

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years professional software development experience with Python
• Strong backend engineering, APIs, and distributed systems experience
• Advanced SQL skills; ability to design and optimize complex queries
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with Redis (or similar in-memory data stores)
• Experience building REST APIs and integrating distributed services
• Strong software engineering best practices (OOP, testing, version control)
• Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming and concurrent processing in Python

Nice-to-haves

• Experience applying AI/agent workflows to fraud operations (automation, workflow efficiency)
• Experience with monitoring/observability patterns for fault-tolerant systems
