About the role

Role Overview

Build, maintain, and improve an infrastructure automation platform using Python in a 100% remote (W2 only) Agile environment. You’ll deliver reliable, well-tested automation at scale while collaborating with product, SRE, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

Design and implement clean, maintainable OOP Python code for services and automation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, SRE, operations) in Agile ceremonies
Use Git workflows with Bitbucket (branching strategies, pull-request workflows)
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and deployment/runbook documentation
Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize application and automation performance
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices
Improve CI/CD reliability and increase automated test coverage
Migrate legacy Ansible-based macroservice fulfillment services to an RMM Level 2 OpenAPI-based microservice using an AI-assisted development workflow

Required Qualifications

5+ years professional experience developing in Python with strong object-oriented programming skills
Proven experience with Git, including branching strategies and pull requests in Bitbucket
Experience designing and building APIs/microservices and working with cloud architecture principles
MongoDB query development experience
Experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog refinement)
Ability to use AI-assisted development tools (code completion, LLM-assisted coding, AI-driven test generation, AI-assisted code review)
Ansible and configuration management experience
Strong debugging, testing (unit/integration), and CI/CD mindset
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Nice-to-Haves

Infrastructure automation experience (IaC, automation frameworks, pipeline automation)
Storage technology familiarity (SAN/NAS, object storage, distributed storage systems)
Experience writing/maintaining tools in Go (Golang)
Kafka experience (producers/consumers, stream processing)
Container experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and observability tooling
Familiarity with Richardson Maturity Model
Familiarity with OpenAPI specifications
