About the role
Role Overview
Python Developer working 100% remote on a 40-month contract. You’ll build and improve an infrastructure automation platform in an Agile environment, delivering reliable, well-tested automation services that scale.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve infrastructure automation using Python.
- Collaborate with product, SRE, and operations teams to deliver reliable automation.
- Design and implement clean, maintainable OOP Python code for services and automation.
- Use Git, Jira, and Bitbucket for branching and pull-request workflows.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog refinement.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and deployment/runbook documentation.
- Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize performance of applications and automation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years professional Python development with strong object-oriented programming.
- Proven experience with Git workflows and Bitbucket (PRs, branching strategies).
- API Design experience.
- Microservice and cloud architecture principles.
- Mongo query development.
- Agile team experience and familiarity with Agile ceremonies.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools (code completion, LLM-assisted coding, AI-driven test generation, AI-assisted code review).
- Ansible and configuration management for provisioning/automation.
- Strong debugging, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD mindset.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to Have
- Infrastructure automation / IaC and pipeline automation experience.
- Storage familiarity (SAN/NAS, object storage, distributed storage).
- Experience writing/maintaining tools in Golang.
- Kafka experience (producers/consumers, stream processing).
- Docker and Kubernetes experience.
- Cloud platform experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) and observability tooling.
- Code review experience.
- Familiarity with Richardson Maturity Model.
- Knowledge of OpenAPI spec.
- Migration of legacy Ansible-based macroservice fulfillment services to RMM Level 2 OpenAPI microservices using an AI-assisted workflow.
- Improve CI/CD reliability and increase automated test coverage.
