Python Developer

Role Overview

Backend Python Engineer focused on Security / IAM, SSO & Authentication. You will build secure, scalable backend services and data workflows across AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and Kafka with an emphasis on healthcare data and HIPAA-compliant handling of PHI.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Python backend services, APIs, and data-processing components.
• Implement secure authentication/authorization using IAM, SSO, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, and RBAC.
• Build and support data workflows using AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, SQL, and Kafka.
• Apply identity security best practices for secrets, session management, and service-to-service authentication.
• Develop automated tests and validation for backend services, pipelines, and security controls.
• Implement monitoring, logging, auditing, retries, and error-handling for production systems.
• Ensure PHI/sensitive healthcare data is handled according to HIPAA-compliant engineering practices.
• Collaborate with platform, security, data, QA, and healthcare domain teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years in backend engineering, data engineering, or related software roles.
• Strong Python experience.
• Hands-on with SQL, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, and Kafka.
• Experience with security, IAM, SSO, authentication, and authorization.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), RBAC, token-based authentication, and identity federation.
• Experience automating/testing backend services, integrations, and data workflows.
• Understanding of secure API design, secrets management, logging, and audit controls.
• Recent healthcare data experience with PHI/HIPAA-compliant handling.
• Knowledge of HL7 ADT message formats.

Nice to Have

• FHIR healthcare interoperability experience.
• PySpark and large-scale distributed data processing.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Experience integrating enterprise identity providers like Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Ping Identity.
