Python Developer | $90/hr Remote

Role overview

Contract Python Developer (remote) working 10–40 hrs/week. You will design and optimize backend services (REST and GraphQL) and participate in structured testing bursts to evaluate AI-powered models in day-to-day coding.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs
• Implement data validation, error handling, and API security best practices in backend services
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance optimizations, and schema changes
• Test AI-powered models in Cursor and provide feedback via:
  • incident reports
  • bug traces
  • screenshots
• Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts to assess how AI models affect real coding workflows
• Collaborate with a research team via a dedicated Slack channel to discuss findings and propose improvements
• Complete post-burst surveys with insights on model performance and developer experience

Requirements

• Strong backend development experience with advanced expertise in Python
• Proficiency building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Advanced knowledge of backend data validation, error handling, and API security
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design
• Extensive use of AI coding tools; Cursor familiarity is highly desirable
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong incident/bug reporting skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, confidential, collaborative remote environment
