Python AI Engineer

Role Overview

Python AI Engineer at DeweyLearn, Inc. Build and maintain backend services and ship AI capabilities that move from prototype to production, with iteration based on real usage.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python
• Design and ship AI features using LLMs and modern ML techniques
• Implement retrieval workflows such as RAG, embeddings, and vector search
• Take AI systems from prototype to production and improve iteratively using usage data
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to make strong technical trade-offs
• Keep systems clean, reliable, and easy to extend

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience and proven Python development
• Production experience with ML/AI systems
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (reliability, maintainability, clean design)
• Good communication: ask the right questions and explain trade-offs
• Native/fluent English proficiency

Technical Requirements

• Strong command of Python
• Production API development experience
• Understanding of modern web frameworks
• Engineering basics: version control, CI/CD, environments, debugging
• Experience implementing and evaluating ML/AI solutions
• Experience building LLM-based AI features
• Familiarity with RAG and embedding-based search

Nice to Have

• PostgreSQL experience
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience
• Familiarity with at least one frontend framework
• Experience in early-stage startups
