About the role
Role Overview
Under the direction of the Enterprise Resource Planning Manager, the Product Owner, Workday ERP owns and prioritizes the Workday and ERP product backlog. You translate strategic objectives and business needs into requirements, user stories, and delivery priorities that maximize business value and improve operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the Workday/ERP product backlog, aligning initiatives with strategy, business value, compliance, and operational priorities.
- Translate business needs into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release priorities.
- Partner with Finance, Practice, and business leaders to define requirements and optimize end-to-end business processes.
- Serve as the primary decision-maker for backlog prioritization, scope decisions, and functional tradeoffs within governance.
- Collaborate with platform owners, analysts, developers, testers, and delivery partners for sprint planning, backlog refinement, releases, and delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement across Workday modules, ERP processes, integrations, reporting, user experience, and platform performance.
- Evaluate Workday releases/enhancements/configuration changes, coordinating testing, validation, stakeholder communication, and change readiness.
- Ensure solutions meet legal, regulatory, risk, information security, and data protection requirements.
- Use product/process/adoption metrics and ERP best practices to inform the roadmap and support adoption via documentation and training.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years in product ownership/product management/business systems analysis or closely related roles.
- Experience supporting enterprise resource planning platforms and business process improvement.
- Strong knowledge of Workday Financials and PSA, including configuration concepts, business processes, integrations, reporting, and release management.
- Experience in Agile delivery with backlog management, story refinement, sprint planning, and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to translate strategic objectives and stakeholder needs into actionable requirements and delivery priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in professional services, accounting, financial services, or other matrixed environments.
- Workday PRO Certifications.
- Experience coordinating with distributed/offshore/third-party delivery teams.
- Agile certification such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM, or equivalent.
