Product Owner

Role Overview

As a Product Owner (PO), you will translate customer and business vision into actionable objectives for Sphera’s product portfolio (including the HMMS Suite used for cradle-to-grave tracking of hazardous material and hazardous waste management). You will bridge business and technical teams by gathering, documenting, and communicating requirements and end-to-end solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders and customers to understand the business vision and convert it into actionable objectives.
• Serve as a communication conduit between business and technical teams by translating business needs into technical requirements.
• Gather and document requirements across multiple stakeholders; conceptualize and communicate end-to-end solutions.
• Build a deep understanding of current systems and processes; analyze the impact of changes as new solutions are introduced.
• Collaborate with internal teams including management, sales, QA, and development.
• Coordinate with other product owners to manage inter-dependencies across the product suite.
• Assist in developing and validating test plans.
• Create and deliver product presentations and/or training for existing and potential customers.
• Manage the product/project throughout its lifecycle.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen and ability to verify U.S. employment eligibility via Form I-9.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a technology-related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 5+ years experience working as a Business Analyst (BA) or Product Owner (PO) in a software organization (preferably software development).
• Ability to travel 2–4 weeks per year.
• Excellent communication with diverse internal/external groups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented with strong ownership/accountability.
• Ability to analyze and document complex business processes.
• Knowledge of SDLC and experience with Agile/Scrum.

Nice to Have / Preferred

• Experience with projects involving APIs and EDI.
• Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD).
• Knowledge of HMMS.
• Experience with Environmental and/or Logistics processes.
• Experience working with DevOps.
• SQL skills.
