About the role

Role Overview

The Product Owner (Remote) partners with software developers and business stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and drive the execution of software development work. You maintain the product backlog, translate stakeholder needs into actionable work items, and help ensure delivered features meet acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the backlog in Azure DevOps (ADO) and build understanding of active work items.
  • Translate stakeholder and organizational needs into clear development work items (e.g., PBIs, bugs, features, and research spikes).
  • Explain the “what” and “why” behind work items to support refinement and sizing.
  • Improve product knowledge by learning how the business uses and integrates relevant systems.
  • Collaborate closely with technical BA and development team to resolve technical gaps.
  • Prioritize and organize the backlog to support transparency and timely delivery of valuable work.
  • Contribute to product roadmap discussions (priority setting and vision).
  • Test completed items to ensure quality and compliance with Acceptance Criteria.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for smooth release execution.
  • Troubleshoot issues, respond to stakeholder inquiries, and escalate when necessary.
  • Attend and contribute to daily and weekly development meetings in line with the team’s working agreement.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with software development processes or project management (preferred).
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent written and verbal communication to convey concepts to both teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Remote Work Requirements

  • Reliable high-speed internet (preferred cable/fiber, ~75 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up).
  • Home router/modem and a dedicated noise-free workspace.
  • Strong wireless or wired Ethernet connection (wired preferred).
  • A valid physical address for equipment delivery (no PO Boxes).
  • Ability to collaborate via chat/video.
  • Legal resident of one of the listed U.S. states.
  • W2 only; H-1B sponsorship not available.

Education

  • No degree required; relevant skills and experience preferred.
