About the role
Role Overview
The Product Owner is the liaison between market needs and solution delivery. You own the product backlog end-to-end, collaborating with engineering and UX to define work using clear requirements and leveraging AI tools to scale backlog creation and refinement.
Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the product backlog to ensure the team delivers highest-impact work
- Write and maintain backlog artifacts: epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Use AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Rovo/others) to produce and refine backlog materials efficiently
- Plan release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionality
- Ensure delivered stories comply with Neumo’s Definition of Done
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, UX, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support for successful releases
- Gather and validate requirements and feedback from customers and stakeholders
- Partner with senior leadership on product strategy, updates, and milestones
- Analyze market and competitive trends to inform product decisions
- Ensure alignment between user needs, business goals, and technical capabilities
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives)
- Monitor and report on product performance, quality, and usage metrics
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years working in Agile with understanding of SDLC phases
- Preferably experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst
- Familiarity with Jira and/or Azure DevOps; Figma proficiency
- Experience using AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Copilot) for story creation and analysis
- Understanding of technical solutions/components (APIs, middleware, services, SQL)
- Ability to create epics, user stories, user journeys, wireframes, and diagrams
- Strong written communication and ability to translate between technical and business audiences
Nice-to-Haves
- Public sector or public-sector software experience (tax administration, short-term rental, revenue management)
- Experience with additional AI tools and broader technical depth
