Product Owner

Role overview

OSV is seeking a TaxEx Product Owner embedded in the software development team to support iterative delivery of frequent, high-quality software releases. You will collaborate with Business Transformation and Operations to gather requirements, create user stories, and support the end-to-end software development process.

Responsibilities

• Work with an experienced software development team across the SDLC (new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and upgrades).
• Operate effectively in Agile Scrum or Kanban; be able to run ceremonies (daily standup, refinement, planning, retrospectives) when needed.
• Own and manage the product backlog: prioritize, refine, and clarify user stories for the engineering team.
• Perform deep dives into business processes related to Payroll Tax imports, schedules, impounds, remittances, and filing.
• Use Payroll Tax expertise to evaluate and provide analysis supporting development and implementation of OSV proprietary software.
• Serve as a liaison between business owners, stakeholders, and development to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Support QA readiness via End User Testing and Training, Change Management, and Process Redesign for enhancements/new solutions.
• Document solutions clearly for both business and technical users (requirements, roles, responsibilities) using appropriate tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll tax or another highly regulated industry performing analysis, requirements gathering, design, and development support for enterprise applications.
• 5+ years experience with Payroll Tax filing and/or Payroll Tax filing software.
• 3+ years in process discovery and documentation, including flow diagramming for business users and developers interfacing with web-based systems.
• 3+ years in defining business roles and documenting technical system specifications.
