About the role
Role Overview
System Automation is seeking a Product Owner Level II to join the Platform Team. You will translate business needs, platform capabilities, and customer problems into well-defined work for engineering teams, owning the product backlog and driving delivery of value in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Key Responsibilities
Backlog Ownership & Delivery Execution
- Own and manage the product backlog for assigned platform capabilities/components.
- Break down epics/features into clear, well-scoped user stories with acceptance criteria.
- Continuously groom, prioritize, and keep the backlog sprint-ready.
- Partner with engineering to clarify requirements, answer questions, and support implementation during sprints.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to recommend prioritization aligned to roadmap objectives.
- Evaluate tradeoffs between technical debt, feature work, and delivery commitments; balance short-term execution with long-term platform integrity.
Agile Team Collaboration
- Act as the primary product point of contact for the development team.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support sprint/release goals by ensuring scope is well understood and dependencies are surfaced early.
- Assess and adapt processes using Agile/Scrum best practices.
Product & User Understanding
- Develop understanding of platform users, internal stakeholders, and downstream customer needs.
- Translate product direction into detailed requirements aligned with platform standards/architecture.
- Validate solutions through feedback loops with stakeholders and delivery teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Quality
- Align backlog priorities with product strategy and roadmap goals.
- Coordinate dependencies to ensure consistent platform behavior.
- Partner with QA and UX (and engineering) to ensure functional and quality expectations are met.
- Ensure delivered work meets acceptance criteria and intended outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of product ownership practices, templates, tooling, and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Requirements Analyst in a software development environment.
- Experience working directly with engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical/business-related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SaaS, low-code, or platform-based products.
- Strong ability to write actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Analytical mindset with understanding of data models, APIs, and workflows.
