About the role
Role Overview
Product Owner (Technical Product Owner) for a contract engagement. You will set, prioritize, and evaluate the work produced by a software engineering team to ensure the delivered product features and functionality meet business and user needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the voice of the client: research and analyze market, target users, and product roadmap.
- Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to align product roadmap to strategic goals.
- Own the product roadmap and define scope and backlog items (epics/features/user stories).
- Partner with product management and senior management to build products that fit the company portfolio.
- Lead workflows and processes; collaborate cross-functionally from product concept through release (new products and maintenance).
- Prioritize by value: assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize themes/epics/stories aligned with product strategy.
- Work with engineering/project managers to manage budgets and support on-budget delivery.
- Drive Agile transformation when applicable; manage Waterfall workflows where required.
- Create and refine product specifications, including iterative-ready details for development teams.
- Provide visioning support: present solutions using wireframes/flows/diagrams and gather feedback.
- Support sourcing technical solutions/vendors for epics/features.
- Solve product problems, perform trade-off analysis, and make decisions to meet business deliverables.
- Define and apply OKR-like objectives/results/strategies to guide product decisions.
- Maintain accountability for product outcomes and communicate product needs to business partners.
- Follow competitor/industry practices to drive innovation in product development workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Deep understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, including experience with Agile transformation.
- Demonstrated product management and stakeholder management experience.
- Experience or background as a web/software developer is valued.
Nice to Have
- Sales/marketing product management experience.
- Entrepreneurship skills.
Contract Details
- Contract position (direct hire).
- Must be based in the US.
- 6 months, with possibility to extend to 1 year.
- Eastern Time zone preferred.
- 40 hours/week.
- Hourly rate: $75–$85.
