About the role
Role overview
Product Owner III at Aflac within the U.S. Actuarial & Product division. You will represent customers and users, lead product discovery and planning, and drive delivery of complex new products or product suites.
Work model (remote/hybrid)
- Hybrid: If you live within 50 miles of Aflac offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, work in-office at least 60% of the week.
- Remote: If you live more than 50 miles away, you will work from home within the continental US. Occasional in-office visits may be required with advance notice.
Responsibilities
- Represent customers/users to support creation of complex new products or product suites.
- Own and communicate product vision and release roadmap across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Define release plans and release goals across teams to deliver the highest customer value.
- Create sprint goals with the team to demonstrate working software at the end of each sprint.
- Own the product backlog (portfolio-level work items and user stories) and prioritize based on value.
- Provide daily availability for questions and clarifications and collaborate closely with the delivery team.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the product and product domain, with ability to translate ideas into valuable features.
- Strong Agile practice with advanced understanding of Agile values/principles and proven application.
- Demonstrated knowledge of product discovery practices, including:
- Human-centered design
- Design thinking
- Brainstorming approaches
- Advanced facilitation techniques
- Demonstrated leadership, ownership, and commitment for deliverables.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience working with and understanding needs of internal and external customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- 6+ years in product development, business analysis, or project management.
- Product ownership of at least three end-to-end product deliveries.
- Must have completed and received certification in Aflac’s 2.0 Product Owner Enablement Program.
Preferred qualifications
- Certification as Certified Product Owner (CSPO).
