About the role

Role Overview

Product Owner for a healthcare claims administration platform. The role translates stakeholder and business needs into clear, actionable user stories, including functional and non-functional requirements (e.g., performance and scalability), and works closely with engineering to deliver high-quality features on time.

Your Impact

  • Backlog Ownership & Agile Execution
    • Own and manage the product backlog; ensure stories are well-defined, prioritized, and aligned to sprint goals
    • Write epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria (clear, testable, customer-centric)
    • Refine non-functional requirements (NFRs) and ensure acceptance criteria reflects scaling and performance expectations
    • Run regular backlog grooming and sprint planning with the Scrum team
    • Participate in daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Requirements Gathering & User Story Development
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather and refine product requirements
    • Use AI-enabled tools (where applicable) to help create epics/themes/user stories
    • Perform gap analysis to validate requirements for completeness and feasibility
    • Refine use cases, workflows, and functional documentation
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as the primary point of contact for development during sprint execution
    • Partner with UX/UI to align user stories with design principles and usability goals
    • Support QA by clarifying acceptance criteria and reviewing test cases
    • Participate in production demos and release reviews
    • Coordinate with other Product Owners to manage feature interdependencies
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Capture feature requests, enhancement ideas, and feedback via stakeholder meetings
    • Communicate backlog priorities, delivery timelines, and sprint progress
    • Track SLO/SLA adherence for in-scope features
    • Ensure delivered features meet customer and stakeholder expectations
  • Healthcare Domain Support
    • Apply knowledge of healthcare claims workflows, billing terminology, and reimbursement processes
    • Support compliance with HIPAA and HITECH (with internal teams)
    • Translate complex healthcare requirements into product features

Requirements

  • Agile product ownership experience with strong ability to write testable user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Familiarity with scaling/performance considerations in non-functional requirements
  • Healthcare domain knowledge (claims workflows, billing, reimbursement)
  • Ability to support compliance needs related to HIPAA/HITECH

Nice-to-Haves

  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools for requirements definition and backlog management
  • UX collaboration experience to ensure usability-aligned stories
