About the role

Role Overview

CORMAC is hiring a Product Owner to provide leadership and oversight for one or more Product Teams delivering program initiatives. The role supports complex, multi-stakeholder efforts spanning the full project lifecycle, with a focus on delivering timely, secure, reliable, and accessible data for customer decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product team leadership, governing goals, objectives, and timelines.
  • Lead or participate in Agile ceremonies as needed:
    • Backlog Refinement
    • Iteration Planning
    • Daily stand-ups
    • Reviews
    • Retrospectives
  • Develop, refine, and prioritize the product backlog, including:
    • User stories
    • Acceptance criteria
    • Technical enablers aligned to Definition of Ready/Done
  • Plan and commit to work during Program Increment (PI) and iteration planning; represent the team in PI Planning and coordinate dependencies.
  • Align delivery with product roadmap and business priorities by working with Product Management.
  • Accept user stories as done against acceptance criteria and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with System Architect and stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility and architectural alignment.
  • Drive continuous feedback and validation to ensure user and business needs are met.
  • Maintain product plans, schedules, risks, and issue logs; proactively mitigate risks.
  • Identify/manage product risks, assumptions, and cross-team dependencies; report mitigation strategies to Project Director and Product Manager.
  • Track team performance using KPIs.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, including demos of team achievements.
  • Facilitate status briefings, decision sessions, and coordinate work across analysts, developers, data scientists, and SMEs.
  • Oversee documentation, deliverable reviews, and QA processes.
  • Ensure federal and client requirements for data security and accessibility compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage budgets and schedules for multi-stakeholder projects; coordinate with client staff and other contractors.
  • Identify objectives/tasks, track and escalate risks/issues, and draft operational/plan reports for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience supporting Product Team delivery across the full project lifecycle.
  • Ability to run and support Agile execution including backlog, iteration planning, and PI Planning.
  • Strong backlog ownership: writing/prioritizing user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical enablers.
  • Cross-functional coordination skills across engineering, data, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with architecture and security/accessibility requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in environments requiring secure and accessible data for decision-making.
  • Familiarity with KPI-based delivery performance tracking.
