About the role
Role Overview
Product Owner for Claims supporting feature delivery and enhancements in a healthcare claims administration platform. You will translate business and stakeholder needs into clear, actionable user stories, work with engineering for timely delivery, and use AI-enabled tools to help with requirements and backlog management.
Responsibilities
- Backlog Ownership & Agile Execution
- Own and manage the product backlog: define, prioritize, and align stories to sprint goals
- Write epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that are clear, testable, and customer-centric
- Run backlog grooming and support sprint planning with the Scrum team
- Participate in daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Ensure stories meet the team’s definition of ready and definition of done before development/release
- Requirements Gathering & User Story Development
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather and refine requirements
- Use AI tools (where applicable) to assist in creating epics/themes/user stories
- Perform gap analysis to ensure requirements are complete and feasible
- Refine use cases, workflows, and functional documentation
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as primary contact for development teams during sprint execution
- Partner with UX/UI to ensure stories align with design and usability goals
- Support QA by clarifying acceptance criteria and reviewing test cases
- Coordinate with other Product Owners to manage feature interdependencies
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Capture requests, enhancements, and feedback in stakeholder meetings
- Communicate backlog priorities, timelines, and sprint progress
- Ensure delivered features meet customer/stakeholder expectations
- Healthcare Domain Support
- Apply knowledge of healthcare claims workflows, billing terminology, and reimbursement processes
- Support compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH)
- Translate complex healthcare requirements into understandable product features
Requirements
- 2+ years of product management experience (healthcare technology/claims preferred)
- 2+ years working with AI tools for product development, requirements engineering, or business analysis (preferred)
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum
- Proficiency with Jira (or similar Agile tools) for backlog management
- Experience using AI-assisted tools for structuring requirements and analyzing user input (preferred but not required)
- Basic understanding of software development processes and technical constraints
- Collaboration tools experience (e.g., Confluence, Miro, Figma)
- Strong written/verbal communication and high attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve blockers quickly in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) or similar Agile certification
- Understanding of healthcare data standards: HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI
