About the role
Role Overview
The Product Owner at AMPS ensures business stakeholder needs are communicated and prioritized by the development team to deliver value in an Agile (Scrum) environment.
Responsibilities
- Act as the face of the products; take ownership and become a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Elicit and understand business processes, workflows, and needs to guide product direction
- Own day-to-day requirement management and prioritization decisions
- Create and maintain the product backlog and establish a product roadmap for tools and systems (P&L)
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to define project priority and business value
- Support the AMPS A–Z process for reliability and consistent value generation and how business interacts with engineering
- Document business requirements, process workflows, and use cases to enable high-quality software development
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and Scrum refinement sessions
- Create epics using established templates; ensure required project documentation is included
- Assign initial priority, project sizing, and business value
- Support production issue handling, including triage of production bugs
- Participate in story creation and assist with test case generation/testing strategy when required
- Approve technical solutions and set final project priority; define Sprint Goals
- Work with the Scrum team to assign stories to sprints
- Own UAT activities (kick-off, demos, and UAT sign-off)
- Support code releases and communicate progress at Sprint Start, UAT Start, and Production completion
- Work independently with a geographically distributed team; report to office when required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree minimum (or relevant experience in lieu)
- 3+ years executing Provider Contracts using varying methodologies
- 3+ years Network and Vendor Management experience
- 4+ years working with high-functioning software development teams
- 4+ years in an Agile environment
- 2+ years direct Business Analysis experience
- 2+ years using Structured Query Language (SQL)
- 2+ years experience with Web Portal and Mobile Application Development
- Working knowledge of:
- Medical Claim Adjudication
- Payment Integrity systems
- Claim processes, medical bill review processes/outputs
- Medical claim data, data flows, and processes
- Working knowledge of relational databases and data structures
Preferred
- Technical data flow and system analysis experience
- Experience with Business Intelligence reporting
Tools / Skills
- Jira and Confluence proficiency
- Strong written/verbal communication, organizational skills, and critical thinking/problem solving
- Ability to balance analysis with timely decisions and maintain high attention to detail
