About the role
Role Overview
As a Product Operations Manager – Scrum, you will facilitate and coach multiple Agile teams. You’ll remove impediments, protect team focus, standardize Scrum practices across teams, and represent the team’s progress to leadership using clear, metrics-based reporting. Where the organization uses scaled Agile (e.g., SAFe), you’ll also help facilitate program-level events like PI Planning and cross-team synchronization.
Responsibilities
Scrum Facilitation & Team Coaching (Multi-team)
- Facilitate core Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Review, Retrospective.
- Ensure ceremonies are focused, timely, and drive real inspection and adaptation.
- Create a trustworthy, non-judgmental environment that supports self-organization.
- Protect teams during sprints; escalate and resolve impediments quickly.
- Coach teams and Product Owners on:
- Agile requirements
- Backlog creation and story slicing
- Definition of Ready/Done
- Maintaining a healthy, well-groomed backlog
- Assess Scrum maturity and coach toward higher maturity at a sustainable pace.
Multi-team & Program-Level Facilitation
- Facilitate or support program-level ceremonies such as PI Planning and Scrum of Scrums (and other cross-team syncs).
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and resolve conflicts before they block delivery.
- Standardize Scrum practices and reporting across teams while preserving team autonomy.
- Mentor less experienced Scrum Masters and share facilitation/coaching techniques.
Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report metrics such as velocity, cycle time, predictability, and defect rates.
- Use tools like Jira and Confluence, with AI-assisted tools when available, to reduce manual reporting/admin work.
- Drive continuous improvement from retrospectives and Inspect & Adapt workshops; ensure actions are completed.
- Maintain transparent, accurate Scrum artifacts and dashboards visible to the organization.
Stakeholder & Organizational Leadership
- Serve as the primary process/delivery point of contact between Scrum teams, Product Management, engineering leadership, and other departments.
- Provide regular, metrics-based updates on progress, risks, and blockers.
- Advocate for Agile values and principles; influence adoption of improved practices.
- Partner with Product Management to balance features, technical debt, and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years experience as a Scrum Master or in Agile facilitation, including supporting multiple teams simultaneously.
- CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) or equivalent agile certification.
Nice to Haves
- Experience in scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe) and facilitating program-level events.
- Comfort mentoring other Scrum Masters and resolving cross-team dependencies/conflicts.
- Familiarity with modern AI-assisted tools for reporting and backlog/admin hygiene.
