About the role

Role Overview

As an Associate/Sr. Associate Data Product Manager (Sr. Associate Data Product Manager) at EXL, you will support day-to-day execution and continuous improvement of a web-based data application. Reporting into the Sr. Lead, Data Product Owner, you will gather and translate business requirements, manage the product backlog and roadmap execution, and help deliver high-quality features aligned with user needs.

Responsibilities

Product Planning & Requirements

Support the Sr. Lead, Data Product Owner with planning and executing the product roadmap
Translate business and user needs into Product Requirements Documents and user stories (including technical requirements)
Understand application functionality and user workflows to identify product and process improvement opportunities
Maintain, prioritize, and refine the product backlog with the PM team
Collaborate with data scientists to identify user behavior trends and gaps that indicate product opportunities

Project Delivery

Track timelines, sprint schedules, milestones, dependencies, and risks to support delivery
Communicate project status to internal and external stakeholders
Maintain product documentation such as project plans, decisions logs, and related artifacts
Identify opportunities to improve project workflows and documentation standards

Application Support

Support day-to-day application administration including content management, user support, and maintenance
Perform QA testing across user roles to validate new features
Coordinate with technical teams to triage and resolve user issues
Build user enablement assets (e.g., user guides, training videos, user communications) to maximize product understanding and engagement

Stakeholder & User Engagement

Understand workflows and needs of diverse user groups to ensure enhancements address business goals
Gather, organize, and synthesize user feedback to inform future enhancements and backlog prioritization
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and end users
Support stakeholder engagement and user-facing presentation/content creation with the Sr. Lead, Data Product Owner

Requirements

2–5 years of experience in Product Management or related field
Experience with technical products, software applications, or data products
Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical requirements
Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Asana
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to communicate across technical and non-technical audiences
Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter with proactive, solutions-oriented mindset; strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting web-based or mobile software applications
