Product Manager, API & Platform

Role overview

As Product Manager for API & Platform (0→1) at Descript, you’ll build and own the platform that turns Descript’s editing capabilities into developer-grade infrastructure. The goal is to enable teams to programmatically import media, run AI-powered edits, and export content at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the API and developer experience for creating content workflows at scale
• Launch integrations enabling new use cases (e.g., MCP wrappers, no-code workflow platforms, strategic partner integrations)
• Partner with the Agentic AI team to shape which editing capabilities are built and how they’re exposed via the API
• Grow the business line by shaping positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategy with Sales and Marketing

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience shipping technical products
• Experience delivering internal APIs, developer platforms, and foundational systems that enable other teams
• Proven 0→1 product building in ambiguous problem spaces; ability to create a repeatable playbook
• Customer-first mindset: experience with customer discovery and defining features that solve real problems

Compensation & location

• Base salary range: $171,000–$235,000/year (final offer considers experience, expertise, and location)
• Location: San Francisco, CA or remote (US) with remote and hybrid options
