Product Lead (Platform)

Role Overview

Join Astra as a Staff-level Product Lead (Platform) (principal-level scope, individual contributor). You will own the platform layer—including customer interaction architecture, platform configuration, scalability, and the developer experience.

Key Missions

• Own Astra’s core API platform, including:
  • Control plane product
  • Webhook and event architecture
  • Developer experience
• Define and maintain Astra’s API contract philosophy
• Write detailed platform specs that serve as both product documentation and a technical contract
• Own the platform roadmap, spanning:
  • Authentication
  • Configuration
  • Extensibility
  • Observability
• Lead technical discovery with customers and translate findings into platform direction
• Partner with engineering to review and drive API design
• Drive the developer experience roadmap

Requirements

• Proven ability to operate as a principal-level IC: set direction, influence without authority, and drive outcomes across engineering and go-to-market
• Exceptional written communication, especially writing platform specs
• Deep expertise in API design, including:
  • REST
  • Webhooks
  • Event-driven architecture
• Experience owning a platform roadmap across authentication, configuration, extensibility, and observability
• 6+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years building developer-facing platform/API products at a technical infrastructure company
• Strong systems-level tradeoff reasoning (e.g., latency vs. consistency, configurability vs. complexity)
• Understanding of developer experience-driven lock-in

Nice to Have

• Payments context (plus, not required) with curiosity about how money moves
• Exposure to agentic AI use cases and AI-native system requirements for payment infrastructure (context, controls, micropayment patterns)
• Background in workflow/rules-engine style product design (if-this-then-that programmability)
• Experience building platform products in BaaS, payments infrastructure, or developer tools
• Familiarity with control plane / data plane architecture applied to developer platforms
