About the role

Role Overview

Lead UX Designer specializing in design systems, shaping Target’s digital experience across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, development, product) to identify, prioritize, and build reusable responsive and accessible UI components.
  • Drive creation of components and patterns in Figma, ensuring alignment with code, information architecture, design tokens, and best practices.
  • Maintain high-quality design assets with documentation and usage guidelines that enable adoption across teams.
  • Partner with developers to create and maintain coded components that match the design system.
  • Create training materials, documentation, and best practices to educate teams and accelerate adoption.
  • Keep up with industry trends and evolving design system practices across platforms.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in design systems or related UX design roles; portfolio showing complex reusable component work.
  • Advanced Figma proficiency for designing, governing, and scaling component libraries.
  • Strong knowledge of design system governance, maintenance, and value communication within large organizations.
  • Ability to influence strategy and collaborate across design, product, and engineering.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling, with logic and data-driven insights.
  • Experience working in agile environments and managing competing priorities.
  • Fluency in responsive design and accessible web standards, including mobile interfaces (iOS/Android) aligned with WCAG.
  • Knowledge of version control, design tokens, information architecture, and interaction design best practices.

  • Ability to mentor and guide other designers and foster continuous improvement and high craftsmanship.
