Role overview

Join Whatnot’s Payments team as a Product Designer. You’ll design trustworthy, seamless financial experiences that power live commerce—covering the full journey from checkout to seller payouts and post-transaction resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Design payment and value experiences across checkout, payouts, wallets, refunds, credits, coupons, gift cards, and balance products on web and mobile.
  • Translate complex payment infrastructure, compliance, tax, and financial integrity requirements into intuitive product experiences.
  • Create end-to-end user journeys and recovery flows for failed payments, pending states, and dispute resolutions.
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes and help validate designs through usability testing (and related research activities).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and compliance/finance/risk teams to balance speed, trust, and operational accuracy.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio of shipped work.
  • Strong interaction and systems thinking to handle complex flows and edge cases.
  • Proficiency with design/prototyping tools such as Figma, Protopie, Framer (etc.).
  • Deep understanding of UX design principles including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to design zero-to-one products in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, or supply chain management is a plus.

Work model / location
