Product Designer - Remote

Role Overview

Stripe is seeking a Product Designer to join its internal tooling team. You’ll collaborate with engineering and product management to design and improve critical internal tools used across teams such as engineering, operations, and finance.

This role focuses on:

• Developer Productivity: tools that help engineers work more effectively
• Collaboration: knowledge discovery and communication at scale

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for a portfolio of internal tools (discovery → problem framing → interaction design → prototyping → support implementation)
• Partner with engineering teams and product managers to translate requirements into clear, usable designs
• Conduct lightweight user research and usability testing with internal users to validate solutions and uncover unmet needs
• Help establish a consistent design language across Stripe internal tools in collaboration with the Sail Design team and alignment with the Stripe design system
• Make pragmatic design trade-offs balancing quality, user needs, and delivery timelines
• Advocate for high-quality internal product design for often underserved internal users

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio showing UX thinking and visual craftsmanship
• Experience designing tools for complex/data-heavy workflows (internal tools, developer platforms, operations systems)
• Strong grasp of full-cycle design: discovery, problem framing, interaction design, prototyping, and implementation support
• Systems thinking (pattern recognition, reusable components, structural solutions)
• Excellent communication and collaboration; share work early and iterate with feedback
• Proficiency in Figma and experience working with or alongside a design system
• Ability to work independently and make design trade-offs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing enterprise/internal-facing tools
• Contributions to design systems
• Familiarity with information architecture challenges
• Interest in developer tooling or workflow automation

• Competitive annual salary (US-based): $159,300 - $238,900
