About the role
Role Overview
As a Product Designer at RealPage, you collaborate with Product Management and a Development Lead to build value for both landlords and renters. You represent Design across the product lifecycle—from product strategy and discovery through design, development, pilot, and general availability.
Responsibilities
- Tell the product problem and solution using personas and narrative.
- Extract and define requirements from customer pain points.
- Lead user, customer, and SME interviews and synthesize findings.
- Document knowledge, existing workflows, and pain points from discovery.
- Narrow and prioritize discovery into actionable scope.
- Solve product/user problems using user-centered design thinking.
- Produce workflow documentation and functional specifications to support Engineering.
- Propose solution ranges and sequence releases to establish product timelines.
- Define, track, and monitor success metrics for proposed work.
- Drive design momentum across the lifecycle, including pilot planning and GA readiness for go-to-market.
- Partner with the PM on design alignment and assist discovery (e.g., discussion guides, SME interviews).
- Coordinate with Engineering and QA to communicate designed functionality for ticketing and quality testing.
- Use and contribute to the Design Standards system and support its evolution.
- Work with UX Researchers on continuous discovery and solution validation.
- Participate in the Product Design Center of Excellence curriculum and be mentored by senior product designers.
Requirements
- UX coursework completion (degrees, certificates, bootcamps, or online courses accepted).
- Portfolio requirements:
- Human-centered stories and ability to define/assess user problems
- Evidence of problem-solving
- Communication of solutions via low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity clickable prototypes
- Metrics demonstrating success for user outcomes
- Ability to assemble a release strategy for product enhancements
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in UX, design, architecture, or a similar field.
- Strong ability to empathize with users.
- Experience with Agile design/development practices and user-centered design thinking.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Facilitation skills to align product and development teams through strategy, discovery, and design.
- Ability to synthesize discovery into actionable items.
- Comfort with iterative design and sharing work throughout the process.
- Ability to communicate clearly with executives and represent the Design POV.
- Curiosity and comfort leading experiments.
