About the role

Role Overview

OpenRouter is hiring a Product Designer to shape both the product and how it’s presented. The role covers core product surfaces (e.g., dashboards, model pages, rankings, policy & guardrails, chatroom) as well as external-facing experiences (landing pages, email templates, and other marketing touchpoints). This is a hands-on role focused on shipping and iterating in an AI-first workflow.

Responsibilities

Product & UX design: Create clear, intuitive interfaces for complex systems like LLMs, APIs, routing, pricing, and latency.
Design end-to-end: Turn ambiguous ideas into concrete product direction and ship production-ready experiences.
Marketing & brand design: Build high-quality landing and growth surfaces.
Scalable templates: Create reusable patterns for email, content, and campaigns.
Design system ownership: Contribute to and evolve the design system and reusable UI patterns.
AI-first execution: Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, prototyping, and iteration.
Collaboration with engineering: Work closely with engineers in a fast, low-process environment; review PRs and understand implementation details as needed.
Strategy through shipped work: Contribute to product and growth strategy through prototypes and delivered outcomes.

Dashboards, model pages, usage and analytics
Model discovery, comparison, and evaluation experiences
Developer workflows: API onboarding, docs, playgrounds, integrations
Marketing surfaces: landing pages, email templates, growth experiments
New product directions: tooling and marketplaces
Rapid prototypes to explore and validate ideas

Requirements

3–8+ years of product design experience
Strong portfolio featuring shipped work
Experience with complex/technical products (developer tools, SaaS, data-heavy apps)
Design-to-engineering fluency: Comfortable reading frontend code/PRs and collaborating on implementation details
Ability to prototype/iterate using code-based or AI-assisted tools
Strong product thinking: simplify complex systems, scope/prioritize well, work comfortably with ambiguity
High craft: visual + interaction design clarity with production-ready output and attention to detail across product and marketing

Nice to Have

Experience with AI/ML products or developer platforms
Designing data visualization/analytics interfaces
Designing high-performing marketing/growth sites
Ability to write or meaningfully modify frontend code (e.g., React, HTML/CSS)
