Role Overview
Product Designer for Setlog (newchat)—help define, design, and ship the future of a camera-first consumer app that makes everyday communication feel natural, expressive, and fun.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design across core product experiences, from early ideas to polished, shipped work.
- Collaborate closely with the founder and engineering team to shape product direction and make strong product decisions.
- Turn ambiguous problems, user feedback, and emerging opportunities into simple, thoughtful experiences.
- Design interactions, flows, visual systems, and prototypes.
- Balance speed with quality, knowing when to explore and when to commit to clear decisions.
Requirements
- Strong product design skills with a portfolio demonstrating excellent judgment.
- Deep thinking about user motivations and how design decisions affect behavior, connection, and retention.
- Highly responsive, proactive, and willing to take ownership.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and adapting quickly as priorities evolve.
- Ability to zoom out for product/company direction while obsessing over key details.
- Can bring original ideas, clearly articulate them, and execute at a high level.
- Enjoys working in a very small team and contributing broadly.
- Interested in shaping an early-stage consumer product where outcomes are still highly malleable.
Location / Work Setup
- New York City preferred.
- Remote-flexible; HQ is in NYC.
