About the role
Role: Product Designer Intern (Mobile & Desktop)
Unpaid, portfolio-driven internship with remote-friendly flexibility.
What you’ll work on
- Design mobile app screens and flows in Figma (iOS-first)
- Create interactive prototypes that closely match the real experience
- Build and maintain components, variants, and simple design systems
- Design micro-interactions and animations to improve usability and clarity
- Collaborate directly with the founder and developers on real product decisions
- Iterate quickly based on feedback, constraints, and user needs
Responsibilities focus
- Deliver real product features (not a “watch and learn” internship)
- Produce work that can be shipped and added to your portfolio
What we’re looking for
- Strong working knowledge of Figma Components and Auto Layout, plus prototyping
- Interest in product design (beyond just visual design)
- Comfort designing for mobile apps (not only websites)
- Curiosity about UX, interaction design, and motion
- Ability to explain design decisions (thoughtful > perfect)
- Desire for real portfolio work and a willingness to learn
Nice to have / additional skills
- Experience with Photoshop products
- Experience with WordPress
Time & duration
- ~20 hours/week (flexible)
- Internship length flexible (ideal ~6 months)
Compensation
- Unpaid internship (may qualify for university stipend or academic credit depending on your school)
