About the role

Role Overview

Product Designer II for the Underwriting module team, shaping how underwriters and managers work inside the Bestow workbench. You will design operational, B2B product experiences that streamline case management and decision-making in high-stakes, regulated workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design for assigned initiatives: problem framing, research, prototyping, validation, and implementation collaboration
  • Conduct user research (interviews, usability testing, data analysis) to validate decisions and guide product strategy
  • Partner with product managers to define problems, propose approaches, and establish success metrics as requirements evolve
  • Create user flows, diagrams, Figma designs, and coded prototypes that communicate intent to stakeholders and engineering
  • Work effectively with engineering in shared code repositories, including reviewing existing prototypes and designs

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of product design experience (preferably in complex or regulated domains such as fintech, healthcare, enterprise B2B, or insurance)
  • Strong portfolio showing systems thinking, research-to-shipping discipline, and attention to interaction/visual detail
  • Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools
  • Hands-on experience building/iterating designs in an IDE or code-based environment (e.g., Cursor, VS Code + AI assistants, Claude Code)
  • Ability to read and navigate coded prototypes and collaborate in shared repositories with engineering
  • Experience using AI tools daily in design practice, balancing automation with human judgment
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries
  • Strong analytical skills using qualitative and quantitative data
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity with incomplete information

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience contributing to design systems/component libraries
  • Demonstrated ability to build prototypes that align design intent with engineering implementation
