About the role
Product Designer (Creative)
Design delightful, student- and teacher-focused digital experiences for Mathspace.
Role overview
- Create clear, engaging, playful, and motivating learning experiences for young people and educators.
- Work with the Head of Design for mentorship, while taking initiative and independence once tasks are defined.
Responsibilities
Product & UI Design
- Design responsive UI screens and components in Figma, aligned with the design system.
- Improve and evolve the design system (patterns, interactions, styles, documentation).
- Create and test prototypes with teachers and students alongside UX.
- Collaborate with product managers and developers to deliver production-ready design files.
Creative Experience & Gamification
- Support design of gamified experiences such as shop, rewards, challenges, and quests.
- Develop age-appropriate visual concepts for new features.
- Contribute storytelling moments that motivate students and delight teachers.
Craft & Visual Design
- Produce polished visual assets including icons, layouts, and illustrations.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite and/or Affinity when Figma alone isn’t enough.
- Maintain pixel-perfect quality and strong attention to detail.
Innovation & AI
- Use AI tools for ideation, image generation, copy exploration, or prototyping.
- Explore future-facing creative and product possibilities as Mathspace evolves for younger age groups.
Requirements
Must-haves
- A Higher Ed Certificate in Design (UI, Graphic, Multimedia, or related).
- Strong modern digital aesthetics and an excellent eye for detail.
- Experience designing web or mobile interfaces with Figma.
- Interest in designing for young people and teacher-facing tools.
- Ability to experiment, learn, and grow; comfort using AI as a creative/design tool.
- Can take a defined task forward independently with support nearby.
- Portfolio demonstrating visual craft (UI, digital design, visual storytelling, concepting).
Bonus points
- Motion graphics and/or illustration skills.
- Experience with Rive.
- Use of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) or equivalent.
- Experience with design systems.
- Experience in EdTech, gamification, or youth brands.
