Product Designer | Contra Labs Network

Role Overview

Apply to join the Contra Labs Network as a Product Designer. This is not a single fixed opening; projects are offered as they arise, with staffing typically 5–10 hours per engagement (and occasionally longer). In unique cases, full-time roles may become available.

How It Works

• Portfolio review: Contra assesses your product design strength (desktop and/or mobile).
• Video interview: You record a short video about your experience and design approach.
• Skills assessment (if accepted): A short task aligned to the work you’ll do (e.g., evaluating AI-generated UI and giving structured feedback).
• If a project matches, Contra reaches out with details and timeline.

What You May Work On

• Evaluate AI-generated product design outputs across desktop and mobile interfaces using professional design standards.
• Provide clear, structured UI/UX feedback (layout, hierarchy, interaction patterns, accessibility, visual polish).
• Help define creative benchmarks and taste standards for great design in AI-powered tools.
• Contribute to research on how convergence (shared best practices) and divergence (individual taste) affect design quality.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong portfolio showing high-quality product design work for desktop and/or mobile.
• Deep understanding of intuitive, polished app interfaces (from information architecture to micro-interactions).
• Ability to articulate constructive design and UX feedback.
• Comfort in fast-paced, experimental environments (AI tools or design tools experience is a plus).
