About the role

Role overview

Bowerbird is looking for a Product Designer to create beautiful, intuitive experiences for museums, galleries, and collectors worldwide. You’ll design interfaces for complex, data-heavy workflows including cataloging, search, exhibitions, and AI-powered features.

What you’ll do

  • Design end-to-end product experiences from concept through pixel-perfect implementation
  • Create elegant solutions for complex workflows in cataloging, search, and asset management
  • Design responsive experiences that work well on desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Conduct user research with museum curators and private collectors
  • Build and maintain the design system to ensure consistency across the platform
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure high-fidelity implementation
  • Design AI-powered features such as visual search and automated cataloging
  • Create prototypes to validate concepts and gather feedback

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years of product design experience (preferably B2B or SaaS)
  • Strong portfolio showing end-to-end design process and shipped products
  • Proficiency with Figma and modern design tools
  • Experience designing complex, data-heavy interfaces
  • Understanding of responsive design and mobile-first principles
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain design decisions
  • Strong attention to detail (typography, spacing, visual hierarchy)
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, iterative environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with design systems and component libraries
  • Background in museum technology, archives, or cultural heritage
  • Appreciation for fine art, antiques, or collecting
  • Experience designing AI/ML features or data visualization
  • Front-end skills: HTML/CSS/React
  • Motion design and/or prototyping expertise
