Responsibilities

  • Design and improve user-facing experiences across the Algrano marketplace (e.g., coffee discovery, offers system, inventory management)
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to turn ambiguous problems into clear user flows and interfaces
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI for new features and improvements
  • Implement designs in code within the Ruby on Rails app using HTML and SCSS (and Haml/SCSS as used at Algrano)
  • Help evolve the design system (Brew) and interaction patterns to improve consistency and quality
  • Contribute to product quality through strong UX writing, handling edge cases, and attention to detail
  • Communicate mainly asynchronously in Slack and Notion, with weekly live meetings
  • Attend periodic team gatherings in Zurich, Switzerland

Requirements

  • 4+ years designing digital products (UI/UX), ideally in a product-led environment
  • Ability to take problems from unclear to clear, balancing discovery, iteration, and delivery
  • Strong interaction and visual design skills with a focus on craft and quality
  • Enjoys close collaboration with engineers; can think in components and systems
  • Comfortable with HTML/CSS and building in Haml and SCSS within a Ruby on Rails codebase
  • Clear communication in written and spoken English
  • Remote-first and based in Latin America or East Africa

Nice to Have

  • Experience with marketplaces, e-commerce, or complex filtering and search
  • Experience in logistics or the coffee trade
  • Experience with user research (interviews, concept testing, usability testing)
  • Experience designing for accessibility and inclusive interfaces
  • JavaScript experience (Algrano primarily uses Hotwire: Turbo + Stimulus.js)
