About the role
Role Overview
Protective Life is seeking a Product Compliance Analyst II for its Employee Benefits Division. The role connects product conceptualization, regulatory compliance, form development, and post-launch implementation, partnering with Product, Legal, Operations, Claims, and external regulators.
Responsibilities
- Draft and develop insurance contracts and policy forms according to product specifications and applicable legal/regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with state insurance departments and other regulators to support form filing approvals and implementation after approval.
- Partner with Product Development, Legal, Internal Systems, Claims, New Business, and Insurance Administration to design compliant forms and documentation.
- Manage policy reviews, editing, finalization, and internal approval workflows for assigned contracts/forms.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for product-related materials (e.g., marketing content, training, websites, producer communications).
- Draft and maintain applications, administrative forms, and service forms supporting business/operational needs.
- Maintain, index, and manage form and product filings in internal databases; support filing process controls and continuous improvement.
- Represent Product Compliance on cross-functional projects and ensure timely, accurate compliance deliverables.
- Monitor and communicate regulatory and competitive developments affecting products or the development lifecycle.
- Participate in industry/trade association meetings as applicable.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of insurance industry experience, with emphasis on regulatory or product compliance.
- Strong insurance compliance expertise, including working knowledge of state insurance filing requirements and approval processes.
- Ability to draft/review/maintain insurance artifacts: contracts, policy forms, endorsements, applications, administrative/service forms.
- Proficiency with regulatory filing systems such as SERFF and I-File (or similar platforms).
- Ability to interpret legal/regulatory requirements and apply them accurately to product and form design.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain compliance requirements to cross-functional partners.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities independently.
- Strong organizational skills for tracking filings, approvals, and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Paralegal certificate or relevant legal experience.
- Industry designations such as FLMI, AIRC, ACS.
- Experience representing a carrier in industry associations.
- Adaptability to regulatory changes and shifting priorities.
