Principal Technical Program Manager (Toast IQ)

Role Overview

As a Principal Technical Program Manager for Toast IQ (full remote), you will design and run the monthly release engine, set and hold the bar on platform readiness, and coordinate go-to-market efforts. You’ll work across product, engineering, marketing, support, and finance to build operating rhythms and governance for cross-functional execution.

Key Missions

• Own and continuously improve the monthly agent release program across all lines of business, building it as a durable operating mechanism.
• Set and hold platform readiness standards by engaging credibly with engineering teams on architecture, dependencies, and technical risk.
• Drive go-to-market coherence across lines of business so naming, packaging, and messaging land as a unified platform story.

Responsibilities

• Establish operating rhythms, governance structures, and cross-functional alignment mechanisms.
• Manage cross-org dependencies and align teams you don’t directly control.
• Lead cross-functional programs end to end (design through launch), not just coordination.
• Translate complex program status and risk into clear narratives for senior leadership.

Requirements

• 12+ years of technical program management experience working directly with software engineering teams.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Technical fluency to discuss architecture, dependencies, and risk with engineers.
• Experience with AI/ML systems, agentic architectures, or applied AI programs.
• Experience building repeatable operating models (building systems, not only running projects).
• Proven ability to stand up a recurring multi-team release cadence on a platform serving multiple product lines.
• Experience managing cross-org dependencies and aligning teams.

Nice to Have

• Vertical SaaS / SMB / restaurant or hospitality technology experience.
• Familiarity with usage-based or consumption pricing models.
• BA/BS in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
