Role overview

Hayden is hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager to drive cross-functional visibility and delivery accountability across the company’s engineering and business portfolio. You’ll partner directly with executive leadership and business stakeholders to turn competing commitments into coherent, executable plans.

Key missions

Ensure interfunctional visibility and delivery accountability across the full engineering and business portfolio.
Serve as the main interface between executives and engineering teams, translating commercial commitments into engineering capacity plans.
Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic programs spanning multiple engineering pillars and commercial functions.
Provide portfolio governance, executive reporting, capacity planning, and demand management for concurrent initiatives.

Responsibilities

Translate business commitments (e.g., contracts, revenue, customer obligations) into engineering sequencing and capacity decisions.
Manage concurrent cross-functional programs in a fast-moving environment.
Deliver clear, structured executive communication to enable decisions based on program status.

Requirements

12+ years in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, or a related role.
Strong experience handling business–engineering tension (contract/revenue/customer obligations → engineering capacity and sequencing).
Technical fluency across multiple domains (able to credibly engage teams in hardware, embedded, cloud, and AI).
Proven track record managing a portfolio of concurrent, cross-functional programs.
Excellent executive communication skills (direct, structured, able to distill complex status into decisions).
Bachelor’s/Master’s/Ph.D. in an engineering discipline.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with on-vehicle, edge-deployed, or ruggedized systems (hardware, embedded, edge AI).
Experience delivering technology to government or municipal clients (procurement, compliance, deployment constraints).
Familiarity with fleet management, secure transaction systems, or sensor hardware platforms.
Background in a high-growth startup/scale-up where process needed to be built.
Experience with computer vision, autonomous systems, robotics, or AI/ML programs.
