Role Overview

Join Walmart as a Principal Software Engineer (Web) to lead the design and development of web e-Commerce features and platforms. You’ll apply model-driven design principles, mentor engineering teams, and drive scalable architecture, quality, and reliability.

Team

Walmart Content Experiences Group — Extended Reality (XR) Team develops immersive retail and shopping solutions. The team integrates extended reality technologies to help customers explore and engage with products both online and in physical stores.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of scalable web software platforms and solutions.
Use model-driven design to create robust technical architectures and system designs.
Oversee design verification testing to ensure product quality and reliability.
Mentor and guide engineering teams to improve problem-solving and innovation.
Collaborate across functions to define technical requirements and deliver high-impact outcomes.
Drive debugging and troubleshooting for complex technical issues.
Promote best practices in cloud architecture and engineering design processes.
Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Conduct research to identify emerging tools and methodologies.

Requirements

12+ years in software development, with specialization in frontend websites and shareable widgets.
Strong systems design and debugging/production support skills.
Expertise in:
- JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, React Router, Redux, Node.js, GraphQL
- API integration and development
- Distributed system and complex software design (design patterns, data structures, algorithms)
- Cloud/DevOps: Azure, Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD, SDLC, telemetry, and secure SDL frameworks
- Product engineering practices (risk/cost analysis, functional/non-functional requirements, user stories, coding and quality/safety/security standards)

Nice-to-Haves

Proven delivery of large-scale software products in fast-paced environments.
Experience aligning engineering execution with business objectives in cross-disciplinary teams.
